Independent off-airport car parks and meet-and-greet firms also serve many airports. We only list ones we have checked — read on- vs off-airport parking and how to check a car park is legitimate before booking one.
Drop-off & pick-up
£6
Terminal drop-off: £6 for up to 10 minutes in the Express car park (Short Stay 2: £4 for up to 15 minutes)
As stated on the airport’s website, checked 3 October 2026. Charges can change — check before you travel.
The Express Pick Up and Drop Off car park is immediately outside the terminal: £6 up to 10 minutes, £12 up to 30 minutes, £16 up to 45 minutes and £20 up to an hour. It is ticketless — cameras record your visit and you pay on exit. From March 2026 the exit barriers take cards only; cash is accepted only at the designated cash machines. Height limit 2.0m; vehicles with more than 7 seats must use the Minibus/Van car park.
Cheaper option: Short Stay 2, a short walk from the terminal, costs £4 for up to 15 minutes (then £14 up to 30 minutes).
Red Route zones apply on the airport roads — don't stop on them.
Picking someone up
Use the Express car park or Short Stay 2 (prices above). For a free wait, the Airport Waiting Zone at Callerton Parkway (postcode NE13 8DN) offers free parking for up to 90 minutes until your passengers land.
Getting there by public transport
- Tyne and Wear Metro — the airport has its own Metro station; about 25 minutes to Newcastle city centre (Haymarket, Monument or Central Station), with direct trains towards Sunderland, North Shields and South Shields. Trains run from about 5.30am (6.20am on Sundays) to midnight.
Blue Badge parking & EV charging
Blue Badge & assistance
Disabled parking bays are in all car parks (vehicles must display a valid permit — photocopies are accepted), with assistance points beside them linked to the Passenger Service desk. Specially adapted vehicles over 2m tall carrying a disabled passenger use the Minibus/Van car park but can pay the Express tariff — ask the parking team at the pay machine.
